Lachan is a Ph.D. student interested in reproduction processes from the annual reproductive cycle of organisms to mechanisms controlling basic reproductive characteristics. She will be studying the aspects of reproductive barriers within the cellular level in several marine invertebrates species. Testing whether gametes (i.e., sperm and eggs) are able to choose with whom to mate with according to their genetic relationship will be the main focus of her research.
